History and Personality: Amon is Robin's assigned partner in Witch Hunter Robin. An S-Class hunter, he is 25 years old. Originally, he was quite reluctant to join Robin, seeing her as more of an annoyance than an actual partner. However, seeing her worthiness in cases concerning highly prominent witches, he eventually accepts her. Some fans speculate that there's a love connection between Amon and Robin, as he puts his life on the line at points to save her, and also due to the opening cinema in which Robin is making unusual gestures about a TV set showing Amon. Amon is also the one that gives Robin the information she needs to find Nagira after the attack by Solomon.

Amon is generally rather quiet and stoic, definitely mysterious (and sometimes downright creepy). Being the oldest and most experienced hunter, Amon is pressured not to show signs of attachment or even common emotions. All the other hunters look up to him and ask him (though sometimes not with words) for advice when needed.

Amon also has a half-brother, Shunji Nagira. While his brother is completely human, Amon has witch blood, a fact he has difficulty coming to terms with.  Amon seems to despise his mother for awakening as a witch, he also fears the day when his own powers will awaken. His fate at the end of the series is unknown.

Relationships: Amon does not seem to be especially close to anyone, though he and Karasuma have worked together a long time and he seems to respect her.  He is not close to his brother, but apparently does keep in loose contact with the older man.  At the beginning of the show Amon is dating Ziezen's daughter, Touko (Ziezen is the "administrator" at STN-J), but he breaks the relationship off.  His relationship with Robin gradually evolves from putting up with her and veritably ignoring her, to helping her improve, to respecting her, to being willing to put his life on the line for her.  Whether or not he has a romantic interest in her we are definitely left with the impression that he cares for her.

Why we love him: I'll probably say this over and over before we are through, but what is there not to love about a broody, quiet, extremely skilled guy who looks great?  Seriously though, Amon is a pretty amazing hunter and he possesses a quality we should all admire - he changes for the better.  Not that he ever says that he was wrong about his black and white stance on witches, but he stays with Robin, and he saves her, so obviously he has changed some.
