History and Personality: Spoiler Warning Julian is best friends with Toya Kinomoto (Tori Avalon in Cardcaptors), and he is also the early romantic interest of Sakura Kinomoto (Sakura Avalon). He is in the same grade as Tori through the end of secondary school. He wears wire-framed glasses and has short silvery grey hair. Unknowingly, he is also the Moon Guardian called Yue (spelled Yueh in older English versions of the manga). When Julian transforms into Yue and back, his body is enveloped in large wings. In the second half of the series, Julian learns of the existence of Yue and sometimes subconsciously communicates with him.
From the moment Julian is introduced, it is clear that Sakura has an enormous crush on him. She continually marvels that he can be friends with her "barbaric brother." Everyone involved, including Julian himself, believes that his meeting Tori in junior high school three years ago had been coincidence. However, Julian's nature as the false form of Yue also means that many of the things he thought he knew about himself are false. He lives in an elaborate house with his grandparents (the house is real, but the grandparents do not exist). In fact, it is unclear whether or not Julian himself existed at all before his meeting with Tori and introduction to Sakura.
Julian is peripherally involved in many of Sakura's adventures as the Cardcaptor, mainly because of Sakura's crush on him and his close proximity to the Kinomoto/Avalon family. In the process, Julian becomes the object of another juvenile crush; this one held by Syaoran Li (Li Showron) but it is discovered later that Syaoran was just magically attracted to the magical energies of the moon that was residing within Julian as Syaoran drew his magical power from the Moon. In the English version this crush is never mentioned, although they could not avoid the fact the Li acts awkward around Julian and blushes a lot...
Not until the last Clow Card is collected does Julian's true form, Yue, emerge and challenge Sakura's right to the cards. Afterwards, the Julian and Yue personalities coexist, with Julian unaware of Yue's presence.
Unfortunately, the strain on Yue's energies become so great that even Julian's massive consumption of food could no longer support it. Julian begins to fall ill, becoming drowsy, falling asleep at the slightest opportunity, and eventually beginning to fade away altogether. The only thing that can save him is a massive infusion of magical energy, which Yue finally receives from Tori (whose earlier efforts to warn Julian of his plight were continually interrupted by the aggressive Nakuru Akizuki, also known as Eriol Hiiragizawa's Moon Guardian, Ruby Moon).
Soon afterwards, Julian listens to and very gently declines Sakura's confession. He has always been aware of Sakura's feelings but tells her that he believes they are more familial (where Julian resembles Sakura's father) than romantic. Earlier that day, Julian had told Tori how alarmed he was that he had suddenly learned about the existence of the Yue identity and the falsehood of most of his memories, but Tori replies that it doesn't matter to him since the moments they have shared together are real.
Julian is kind and sweet with an easy, cheerful nature, and a ready laugh. He is kind to Sakura and thoughtful towards others. He is also perpetually hungry... he tends not to notice tension or uncomfortable moments, and when he does he is very confused by them. His life philosophy seems to be "why can't we all just get along."
Relationships: Julian is Tori's best friend, and has been for some time. The two are very close and it is possible that Tori is the only friend Julian has. They study together and Julian is often over for meals with the Kinomoto/Avalon family.
Julian is very fond of Sakura, and she has a major crush on him. He always pays attention to her and cares for her, but he gently lets her down when it comes to the prospect of a romantic relationship between the two. However, they remain close.
Techniques: Julian technically has no techniques as he does not use magic in this form, but he is an excellent archer.
Trivia: Yukito's first name means snow rabbit. CLAMP gave him this name partly because he has very white skin and partly because of his alter-ego, Yue, whose harsh and cold personality is reminiscent of the associated season of winter. Yukito's surname means Moon Castle. This is because Yue symbolizes the moon, and Yukito serves as a body for him. In Chinese folklore, there happens to be a rabbit in the moon.
Yukito makes multiple appearances in Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE. He is first shown in the Kingdom of Clow, where he is the High Priest and the best friend and confidante of Toya, the King of Clow. It is Yukito who uses his magical knowledge to send Syaoran and the stricken Princess Sakura to Tokyo to meet with Yoko Ichihara (in ×××HOLiC), whom he refers to as "The Space-Time Witch." Like his counterpart in Cardcaptor Sakura, Yukito's powers relate to the moon; he possesses the ability to send others across dimensions and also the ability to see the future. The magic circle he uses to send Syaoran and Sakura to Yuuko Ichihara is almost identical to the one used by Clow Reed in Cardcaptor Sakura. Another version of Yukito appears as a waiter in the restaurant with Toya in the Hanshin Republic, the first world Syaoran and his companions visit. His appearance, along with Toya, illustrates the concept that Syaoran will encounter people he already knows, but are the not same person in the sense that he knows them. Also, he appears in Outo Country along with Toya as patrons in the cafe run by Sakura and her traveling companions.
There is an argument between Card Captor Sakura Fans as to whether or not Yukito (in the original Japanese) can be considered a boy because his counterpart Ruby claims he/she has no gender (though Spinel refers to Ruby as a he) though this may just be an example of Clow's sick humor. In the English translation Julian in male and Ruby is female.
Once Julian learns of Yue's presence in his body it becomes known that he can talk to Yue in his mind.
Though Yue sees everything in Julian's life Julian doesn't see anything in Yue's
After Julian rejects Sakura the two of them seem to adopt a brother, sister type of relationship
Eli (Eriol), Aiden (Fujitaka- Sakura's dad), and Julian (Yukito) all look alike, and to some extent act alike, this resemblance explains Sakura's crush on Yukito as well as how she can easily get along with Eriol.
Julian loves all food but his favorite is curry stew.
Julian's favorite subject is math.
Julian likes the color white (surprise, surprise) and his favorite flower is the primrose
Julian has no least favorite subject or food, apparently the boy really does like everything...
Julian wants a new lunchbox I hear (what? for the whole series???)
Why we love him: He's sweet and kind and sensitive and has the cutest smile ever! Yep, that's pretty much it...
