History and Personality: Koji is a loner and though he wants to make friends he doesn't really know how. He has had to change schools a few times because of his dad so he has never really gotten the chance to make close friends. Because of this he first has trouble interacting with the others. He can be distant and a little stand offish. But once he makes friends he is fiercely loyal, if any of his friends are in danger he will rush in feet first and put himself in danger to protect them. Koji's mother was supposed to have died, but his father actually left his mom and remarried. Koji never really accepted his new mom. He obtained an SMS message while buying flowers for his step mom. It was like the others, but he was told that he would learn the truth. Upon arriving on Angler and during a fight with Raremon, Koji was chosen as the Legendary Warrior of Light.
At first he traveled alone, showing up to help the others as he saw fit. But after their first confrontation with Grumblemon, and the Toy Town incident, Koji joined the group. But, he and Takuya do argue sometimes. Koji was able to "Spirit Evolve" to either Lobomon (Human) or Kendo-Garurumon (Beast).
When he saved Agunimon by taking the hit from Duskmon's blade, Koji's face somehow affected Duskmon. Later, Duskmon was bent on knowing why Koji made him feel that way. The battle between them lead to Seraphimon's power giving Koji the power to unite his Spirits and "Double Spirit Evolve" to Beowulfmon, and that Duskmon is actually Koji's older twin brother, Koichi (the 'truth' mentioned in his message). After scanning the Spirit of Darkness, Koji saw that he needed to protect Koichi, even after his brother regained his Spirits.
Like Takuya, Ophanimon upgraded Koji's D-Tector so he could "Hyper Spirit Evolve" to Magna-Garurumon by combining the Spirits of Light with the Spirits of Darkness, Thunder, Steel, and Water. But he and Takuya took it up a notch when Koichi's sacrifice allowed them to combined ALL Spirits to form Susanoomon during the Lucemon battle.
When he was returned to the real world, Koji and the others went to the hospital where Koichi is unconscious in a hospital bed, a result of his sacrifice. Koji's tears and the D-Tectors revived Koichi. Koji gavethe flowers to his stepmother, who was thrilled, and met his real mom in the park, supported by Koichi.
Koji is strong, determined, intelligent, and decisive. He is generally logic and responsible, but he's been known to laugh (once in about ten years...). He can be cold and is embarrassed when others get emotional or "personal". He can also be stubborn and sarcastic, but he has a good heart.
Relationships: Koji and Koichi never knew one another, but once he discovers that he has a twin Koji quickly becomes attached to him. Even though he is technically younger (by what, a minute or two?) he takes over the big brother role mainly because Koichi isn't as strong a person as he is and needs to be protected. Sometimes Koji isn't quite comfortable with his new role, not knowing how to respond to his brother's guilt over being used against them, or the revelation that his mother is alive, but he works through it and sees that family is very important.
Though Koji becomes friends with all the digidestined the one he seems... well, closest to probably isn't the right word... the one he interacts with the most is Takuya. Takuya and Koji can bring out the best and the worst in one another. They both have strong leadership qualities and the determination and decisiveness that wants to lead, but they often see things very differently as Takuya tends to think with his heart while Koji thinks with his head. More than once they come to blows. However, the team works best when the two share the responsibility of leadership, with Takuya generally at the head and Koji close behind to fix any problems... they eventually grow to respect one another and Koji finds himself speaking with Takuya about his problems with his newfound brother. Takuya, being an older brother, is surprisingly insightful and helpful in this area.
Techniques: Koji is actually an excellent martial artists in his own right, but when he transforms into a legendary warrior his attacks are phenomenal. Lobomon's attacks: Lobo Kendo, Howling Laser. Kendo Garurumon's attacks: Lupine Laser, Howling Star. Beowulfmon's attacks: Frozen Hunter, Cleansing Light. Magna Garurumon's attacks: Magna Missiles, Magna Rockets, Starburst Hunter. Susanomon's attacks (with Takuya): Celestial Blade, Heaven's Thunder.
Trivia: If Koichi means child number one I'm gonna hazard a guess that Koji means child number two... but I could be wrong...
Why we love him: He's adorable especially when he blushes! Seriously though, he's so awkward socially at first but he turns out to be loyal and caring... and then he's got that strong, silent, thing going on with a side of easily embarrassed. Adorable I tell ya!
