History and Personality:

Anime - Lance, also known as Wataru in Japanese, is the head of Pokemon G-Men. He's also considered as one of the most powerful trainers in the world. Lance's first appearance in the anime is Episode 235 (Johto region), "Talkin Bout An Evolution". This was also his first meeting with Ash, the main character of Pokemon.

In his first appearance, Lance helped Ash from Team Rocket with his Dragonite. Then, he asked Ash to help him to finish the problem that caused by Team Rocket about Red Gyarados. After that, he disguised himself by wearing a set of Team Rocket's uniform he got from a Grunt.

Ash and his friends were caught by Team Rocket, and in the next episode, they tried to escape from Team Rocket. But as we usually see in the anime, Jessie, James, and Meowth tried to stop his action. When Jessie's Arbok was about to hit Ash, Lance came with his Dragonite and opened his disguise. Then, together they managed to finish the Red Gyarados problem and at the end of the episode, the Gyarados was caught by Lance.

Lance also appeared in Pokemon Movie about Groudon and Kyogre. He was the person who calmed down the two legendary Pokemon. He also disguised in the movie, but this time he used a Team Magma uniform.

Lance has a cousin who is the gym leader of Blackthorn City, Clair. He was said as the only person who can beat Clair. Also, as a member of dragon clan, both of them always use capes. Lance with his black cape, while Clair with her blue cape. His cape has made a girl, known as Marina, got crazy of him. Marina was said to be one of Lance's fanatic fans, she has a notebook full of his pictures and that's only because he wears cape!

Lance is also known as one of the Elite Four. It was said that he's the leader of the Elite Four. I found some sites that also added that Lance has close relationship with one of the Kanto Elite Four: Lorelei, which uses ice-type Pokemon.

Manga - In the manga, Lance is the leader of the Elite Four, and has a large army of Dragonites, Aerodactyls and Dragonairs. He wanted to destroy humanity because of all of their pollution and hurting of Pokémon. So he is trying to destroy humanity so he can make a world for Pokémon alone and the Elite Four. He planned to use the Pokémon Badge Amplifier and use the energy of the badges to create a Lugia and use it to be able to control all the Pokémon and have them destroy all the humans. He was stopped by Yellow, when she used the Megavolt and deflected the energies of the badges to the world and filled it with plants and trees. Lance also was born in Viridian City and has the powers of the Viridian Forest: the power to heal and read the minds of Pokémon. He wanted to destroy humanity ever since he was a kid when he saw a Dratini and Magikarp hurt by the pollution of a factory.

Relationships: Well, since most of Pokemon deals with people who meet Ash, the only person we really see Lance interact with is... Ash!  He seems to respect Ash.  And obviously he has a cousin... I suppose they must get along alright, but I don't recall him mentioning her...

Techniques: Lance doesn't have techniques, he has Pokemon - dragon pokemon, including two (count 'em  TWO) Dragonair.  He also has an Aerodactyl and a Gyarados.  Oh, and he plays dress up!  Errr... I mean, he disguises himself to infiltrate the bad guys ^_^

Trivia: Ummm... Lance's cousin is Claire?  (Seriously, I'm hung up on that.  I had no idea until I started doing research for this profile - I can't believe I missed that he has family!)

Lance's Grandfather is thought to have been the elder of a famous clan of dragon masters.

In the game you can sometimes find Lance in the Department Store in Celadon City.  He always buys a cape there... go figure.

Why we love him: Does he have red hair?  Yep, 'nuff said.  No, seriously, he's got way cool pokemon, and he's in charge of two amazing groups of Pokemon Masters.  The boy is something else.
