History and Personality: Shino Aburame is a solitary and collected member of Kurenai Yuhi's Team 8, consisting of himself, Kiba Inuzuka, and Hinata Hyuga. In the few instances that Shino has appeared in the series, he has been devoid of emotion, never smiling and always speaking matter-of-factly. Due to his infrequent appearances, little is known about Shino due to his past never being explored.
Shino is intelligent, excelling in his analytical and observational skills, which allow him to make shrewd judgments with pinpoint reasoning. Like Shikamaru Nara, Shino prevails in battles by systematically staying steps ahead of the enemy. As a member of the Aburame clan, Shino was infused at birth with a special breed of insects that feed on chakra. In return, the insects attack and do other tasks as he commands. Because of his bond with insects Shino is fairly bug-centric, spending most of his spare time watching bugs and often making analogies to bugs when talking. His relationship with bugs as well as his stoic disposition has given Shino a fairly creepy personality, and others tend to dislike being in his company.
Part 1:
Chuunin Exam Arc - During the preliminary matches of the Chunin Exam, Shino is matched against Zaku Abumi. Because one of Zaku's arms is in a sling, Shino advises him to forfeit the match. Zaku refuses, and instead attacks Shino with his one good arm. In attacking Shino, Shino is given an opportunity to box in Zaku with bugs, forcing Zaku to choose between attacking him or attacking the bugs, leaving the other to attack Zaku from behind. Zaku chooses to attack both, and pulls his other arm out of its sling. As Zaku prepares to blast the two opposing forces, his arms detonate, making them unusable and putting him in immense pain. As Zaku writhes, Shino reveals that the tubes in Zaku's arms had been filled with his bugs, causing the pressure of Zaku's attack to go outward when it couldn't escape.
For the final matches of the Chunin Exam, Shino is scheduled to fight Kankuro, though Kankuro forfeits before the match can begin. When the invasion of Konoha starts and Kankuro flees the village, Shino follows him, wanting the fight he had been denied. Upon catching up with Kankuro, Kankuro attacks Shino from a distance with his puppet, and Shino uses his bugs to make otherwise impossible evasions. A poisonous gas attack, however, catches Shino by surprise, though he is able to avoid the worst of it. As the battle progresses, Shino uses his bugs to eat the chakra strings that Kankuro uses to control his puppet, forcing Kankuro to frequently relinquish and reacquire control of his only weapon. All the while, Shino directs his bugs to the scent of a female bug planted upon Kankuro's head, and upon reaching Kankuro they consume his chakra. As Kankuro collapses due to the sapping of his strength, Shino collapses too, the poisonous gas taking effect. After regaining consciousness, Shino finds his father, Shibi, standing over him, using his own bugs to draw out the poison in Shino's body.
Sasuke Retrieval Arc - In the aftermath of the failed mission to retrieve Sasuke Uchiha, Shino regrets being away with his father on a mission, and therefore being unable to help. Shino feels that, had he been able to help, the mission's outcome may have been different, and Sasuke may not have been able to abandon the village. Putting the past behind him, Shino resorts to working on his teamwork skills with Kiba and Hinata, helping the latter to improve her abilities.
Anime Filler Arcs: Throughout the filler arcs, Shino displays an exemplary ability to work with his team, being able to carry out a mission successfully while also keeping others safe. Shino's bond with his team is also touched upon, with Kiba and Hinata being shown to get along very well with Shino despite his personality. Shino also proves to be able to understand his teammates' inner workings, being able to sense when the slightest of things is wrong with either of them. In a rare display of emotion during the Laughing Shino arc, Shino laughs, though this is largely due to him being drugged with a poison that forces laughter. Although this instance is not a genuine exhibiting of Shino's personality, he threatens Naruto Uzumaki to make sure that nobody ever knows that he laughed.
Part 2: Shino makes his Part II debut wearing a grayish-green, hooded jacket over a black, high-collared, buttoned shirt. This choice of attire coupled with his sunglasses leaves only a portion of his face visible, making recognizing him nearly impossible. Despite this, Shino becomes very annoyed with Naruto when the latter proves unable to recognize him, while at the same time instantly recognizing Kiba and Hinata. Like the rest of his team, Shino has become a Chunin over the timeskip.
Relationships: While Shino does not appear to be overly friendly (in that he is neither talkative nor social) he does seem to get along fairly well with his teammates and even the other rookie nine. In the beginning the others think he is "freaky", but once they have worked with him he gains their respect and eventually friendship. Shino is a firm believer in teamwork and treats his teammates accordingly.
Techniques:
Destruction Bug Host Technique -The Aburame clan is famed for their use of insects in their jutsu. When a child is born, their body is offered to insects, called destruction bugs, as a nest. The bugs feed and live off the chakra that the body stores and in return the ninja gets to control and command the bugs, using them as their primary fighting technique. These bugs have the ability to drain chakra through physical contact with the enemy.
Bug Clone Technique -
Using the Kikaichu bugs living in their body, the user can create a copy of themselves or anyone else they choose. The clone falls apart into its component bugs when struck. Because they're made of bugs, the clones can reform almost instantly.
Bug Jar Technique -This jutsu uses the Kikaichu bugs living in the user's body as a shield by having them fly in a dome shape at high speed. The dome is strong enough to destroy incoming attacks, but can be disrupted with sufficient explosive force.
Bug Wall Technique -This jutsu uses the Kikaichu bugs living in the user's body to create a living wall of bugs to shield themselves or their allies. While this technique is only named in the anime filler arcs, Shino did use a similar technique during his battle with Kankuro.
Bug Gathering Technique -This jutsu creates a web-like array of chakra to lure nearby bugs to the user.
Trivia: Because all the members we meet of Shino's clan wear dark glasses many fans believe there is something wrong with their eyes, or that they have no eyes. No indication of this rumor being true has ever been given by the creator of the series.

Shino apparently is highly respectful of all living creatures, probably because of his close relationship with bugs. Though he primarily uses his Kikai insects other insects can also be put under his control as evidenced tin the first two rounds of the Chuunin exams where he controls a fly in order to cheat on the first test, and controls giant leeches in the second test.
Why we love him: Calm, cool, collected, in-control, and for once not evil! So he has an infestation problem, but that just makes him cool. I love watching him fight!
