History and Personality: Tasuki  is the former leader of the Mount Reikaku bandits. Extremely quick and agile, he particularly enjoys joking around with with Nuriko and Tamahome, then later Chichiri. His weapon is a metal fan that can emit flames when he cries out "Rekka Shin'en". After the first failed summoning of Suzaku, Taiitskun changes the fan material from iron to diamond. At the end of the series, he and Chichiri are the only (living) Suzaku seishi remaining in the Universe of the Four Gods.

Tasuki is the first warrior Miaka finds intentionally.  He is a member of the Bandits of Reikaku, but he is away when Miaka, Nuriko, and Hotohori are taken by them.  The leader of the bandits had recently died and Tasuki (who is going by the name Genro) was supposed to take his place.  Hwoever, since he was away another man took the Tessen (metal fan with flames) and made himself leader.  When Tasuki returns he is chased away - but not before he snatches Miaka. When Miaka hears his story she decides to help him and the two of them, along with Koji - a friend of Tasuki's from the Bandit group - return to the Bandits' headquarters ready to fight.  Tasuki regains his title and sends the Suzaku party on their way, telling them that Tasuki was the previous leader and is therefore dead.  As they leave Koji mentions that he thinks "Genro" actually wanted to go with them, which earns him a whack from Tasuki.  In the end, however, Tasuki does end up leaving the Bandits under Koji's leadership so that he can travel with Miaka and the others.  And, obviously, he confesses to being the real Tasuki.

Tasuki is straight forward, simple minded, and quick to pick a fight, however he also is chivalrous with a strong sense of honor and unafraid to show his emotions. Off all of the Suzaku Seven, Tasuki seems to take the deaths of his colleagues the hardest, opening crying for them. Tasuki cannot swim, a fact Tamahome enjoys teasing him about. Despite his fear of water, in the second OVA, he saves Miaka from drowning by "swimming," that is he pushes along the bottom of the lake in water that only comes up to his arms. When Chichiri appears, Tasuki is startled into deeper water, where he instinctively began to tread water. Only when Chichiri points out that he cannot swim does he stop, resulting in his sinking.

During the main series, Tasuki shows affection for Miaka and is ready to die to protect her, however he never indicates that those feelings are romantic until near the end of the series. While under a spell that draws out his hidden feelings and causes him to do evil, he tricks Miaka into going to a hotel with him. He confesses that he loves her and nearly rapes her. Taka shows up and in a rage, Tasuki tries to kill him but regains control of himself momentarily when Taka points out that he is making Miaka cry. To try to stop himself, Tasuki tries to kill himself, but they are able to break the spell first. In the second OVA of the anime series, this is changed to his succeeding and blowing up the building, but Tasuki was saved by Mitsukake arriving to heal his wounds.

In the novel Genrou Den, Tasuki's life before he joined the Priestess of Suzaku and the Suzaku Seven is shown. It tells how he met Koji and the other bandits. When the chief bandit of Mount Reikaku took Tasuki under his wing, Tasuki found his calling. He started to improve his martial arts skills in order to be like - and carry on after - his mentor as the bandit leader. He also learned the use of the iron fan. A woman named Rei-Rei is in love with him, but she dies from severe wounds while retrieving the iron fan.

Tasuki may have grown up physically, but tends to act like a child often. When the chief bandit (Hakurou) of Mount Reikaku took Tasuki under his wing, Tasuki found his calling. He started to improve his martial arts skills in order to be like - and carry on after - his mentor as the bandit leader. He also learned (along with Koji) the use of the iron fan which was changed during the first season into a diamond fan by Taiitskun as a reward, and after that only he could make it spew fire. He reluctantly left his close friend Koji as the bandit leader so he could help Miaka and the other seishi on their quests. Tasuki is straight forward, simple minded, and quick to pick a fight. Despite that, he is bound by chivalry, yet gets emotional easily.

Tasuki's softer side manifests mostly in his relationship with Chiriko. Though it might seem unusual that someone as rough around the edges as Tasuki is would befriend a child, Tasuki is the baby in his family and is the only boy. Chiriko's age makes him the ideal candidate to become like Tasuki's younger brother, and likewise, Chiriko's looks up to Tasuki as an older brother. Chiriko strives to be a "manly man" like Tasuki is, so the two become an odd pair in the series.

Relationships: When Tasuki and Miaka first meet, he kidnaps her in order to regain his rightful place as the leader of the Mount Reikaku Bandits. Her reactions during this make him think of her as a "strange" girl. Throughout the series, Tasuki thinks of Miaka as a sister. However, his feelings for Miaka change when (evil) Tamahome breaks her arms and heart. He almost died trying to fight off Tamahome, but stops when Miaka pleaded him to. In the 2nd OAV episode 4, he is effected by the spell that brings out the inner evil. Tasuki attacks Taka and takes Miaka to a nearby city and gives her food and liquor. Miaka becomes drunk, and Tasuki takes her to a room in the second floor of an inn. Tasuki nearly rapes her until Taka interrupts. During his "almost raping Miaka" moment, he says how he hates woman, but not her (He says "But yer just Miaka" and "I am a man"). While the spell caused him to take actions he would not normally have taken, they were still based on his own previously unspoken love for Miaka.

Tasuki is closest to Nuriko and to some extent Tamahome for the majority of the series, sharing an almost sibling like relationship with them.  He and Tamahome fight, but in the way brothers who are too close in age do rather than in a serious way.  Nuriko is constantly scolding Tasuki about this and his other bad habits.  When nearly all the warriors die at the end of the first series Tasuki becomes close to Chichiri, as they are the only two left living.  He is also close to Taka (the real world reincarnation of Tamahome), offering him support and knocking sense into him on occasion.

Tasuki is very close to Koji, another of the Bandits of Mount Reikaku.  The two are intensely loyal to one another, and Koji is the only one of the bandits who was willing to help Tasuki take back his place as leader.

Techniques: Tasuki's weapon of choice is the flame throwing Tessen; iron fan (really a diamond fan), however this is a magic item passed to him by the leader of the Bandits.  His seishi power is incredible speed and agility.

Trivia: He claims to hate all females (This is due to his family - five older sisters, alpha-male mother, and wimp father)

Tasuki was given the name Genrou ("Phantom Wolf") for his superhuman speed and for his wolfish like appearance: fangs, wild hair, beady eyes, and long legs.

Why we love him: He's loud and obnoxious with a good heart... sounds like several other anime boys we adore ^_^  His hair is a little scary... and so are the fangs... why fangs?  But he's adorable anyway ^_^
