History and PersonalityTori is Sakura's big brother. He loves picking on his little sister, but inside, he really cares about her.  Julian often teases that he has a "sister-complex" (yes, that means Julian is 'accusing' him of being in love with his own sister).  he may not be in love with her but he can be a little over-protective of her.  He dislikes Li at first because Li is unkind to Sakura and later because he knows Li loves her.  Tori is very intelligent, and good at everything from sports and acting and cooking.  As a result he is very popular with the girls at his school, but he does not date.  Tori spends most of his "free time" working odd jobs, sometimes with Julian, or studying (always with Julian....). Tori also has the ability to see spirits or ghosts. He used to tell Sakura this when she was little, so it sort of had a reverse effect on her, making her afraid of ghosts. Tori sees his mother's spirit guarding them once in a while.

Tori's best friend is Julian.  Tori knows that Julian is not 100% real human, but he still accepts him. He also knows about Sakura being a cardcaptor, but keeps quiet about it.  Because Tori knows of his sister's activities and is trying to protect her he often "happens" to be working a part-time job in places where Sakura must fight a card.  In the second season Tori gives up his magic powers to Yue so that Julian will not cease to exist.  IN exchange he makes Yue promise to protect Sakura in his place. (Which Yue would obviously have already done as her guardian... but, whatever.  Older brother instincts.)

Tori also knows Sakura's math teacher, (a Shinto priestess with connections to Clow Reed) Layla Mackenzie. The two met under a cherry blossom tree where they talked about a spirit that only they could see. Then later, in class, Tori discovers that Mrs. Mackenzie is his new junior-high math teacher! Even so, Tori fell madly in love with Mrs. Mackenzie and she with him.  Before she moved away from Japan she broke up with him and told him that when they next met they would both be in love with other people. After that he did not like to speak of her moving overseas because it hurt to talk of her.  However, he does interact with her upon her return to Japan and it seems as though some sort of friendship might be salvaged.  In the final episode of Season 1 the two are seen watching Sakura and mention that they will not reveal their true forms.  This implies that Tori and Lyla may not be true identities (like Julian), however, the issue is never touched on again in the anime.  In the second season Tori continues to look after his sister and attempts to talk to Julian about Yue until he finally forfeits his powers to Yue, after which he takes a far less active role.

Touya in Tsubasa - In Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE In Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Touya is not only the older brother of Sakura but also the King of the Kingdom of Clow. The former king, Touya and Sakura's father, is Clow Reed. Like his Cardcaptor Sakura incarnation, he dislikes Syaoran and refers to him as a brat (though the antagonism is one sided now). His reasons are similar; from the predictions of the High Priest of Clow (who is Yukito, his best friend and confidante), he knows that Sakura and Syaoran are meant to be together and their destinies are linked. Additionally, Touya had initially felt that Syaoran possessed a rather unsettling presence within him and confronted his father about it, though Touya later admits that the feeling went away as Syaoran opened up to Sakura.

Another incarnation of Touya appears with Yukito in the Hanshin Republic, where he and Yukito are waiters at a local restaurant, and once again (in the anime) during the Outo Country where he and Yukito are patrons in the cafe run by Syaoran and the others.

In the anime version of Tsubasa, he's voiced by Miki Shinichiro, a close friend and fellow band member (Weiss) of Seki Tomokazu, who did Touya's voice in Cardcaptor Sakura.

Relationships: Tori is Sakura's older brother and believes it is his duty to both drive her crazy and keep her safe.  He does an admirable job of both, but whether he is teasing her or surreptitiously watching over her it is clear that he loves her very much.  Their relationship is characterized by his insults and her stomping on his feet in retaliation ^_^

Tori is best friend with Julian (though the Japanese hints at more - it is never explicit *at least on Tori's side* - still, you have been warned!).  Tori knows from the moment he meets Julian that Julian is not quite human, but when he realized Julian didn't know he stopped hinting at it.  The two are very close, spending most of their time together.  And, as Julian gets weaker in the second season, Tori is very protective of his friend.  Eventually he gives his powers to Yue in order to keep Julian from fading into nothingness.

Li Showrun (Syaoran Li) is far from Tori's favorite person, but since they are both often around Sakura they have little choice but to interact.  At first Tori hates Li because he bullied Sakura, but he holds on to his distaste even after the two become friends.  Julian constantly teases him about this, but his continued dislike is most likely a typical older brother reaction to the boy who wants his sister's heart.

Due to several run ins with the Mirror Card Tori has formed a sort of relationship with it. When the card first appears it causes Tori to be injured by accident and then feels remorseful. Afterwards Sakura tried to use the card on several occasions to fool her brother, but he knew it was a double and tells Mirror, but promises not to tell Sakura he knows. Tori is very kind to the card and it develops a crush on him.

Trivia: Tori has held at least 9 part-time jobs in the anime: penguin feeder at the aquarium, waiter at a restaurant, quiz show attendant, waiter at an amusement park, assistant at the strawberry farm, ice cream vendor, dear mascot, ice soda waiter, bunny mascot and waiter at Nadeshiko Festival.

Tori's favorite subject is Chemistry, though he apparently likes all the other subjects just fine.

Tori plays soccer as a school extracurricular activity and is in the choir club...

His favorite color is blue and his favorite flowers are peach blossoms.

Tori's favorite food is steak and his least favorite is fried tofu.  His favorite recipe is omelet with fried rice and fired noodles.

Toya's wish list (according to CLAMP) is for new sneakers.

In the anime, like Syaoran in the Sleeping Beauty play, Toya plays the lead female character in his high school's Cinderella play.

Toya's "kaijuu" (monster) nickname for Sakura in Cardcaptor Sakura is reused in Tsubasa.

Toya's running gag about his part-time jobs is retained in Tsubasa as he frequently and conveniently appears as a waiter or chef in resturants where Syaoran and company eat.

Why we love him: Stupid question.  He's protective of his sister and his friends and her friends. He's smart and talented and he may be a world class brat but he more than makes up for it with everything else.  PLus, you know, he's hot.  Never hurts ~_^
