Where’s Armaldo

Ash and co are headed to Wales Island.  This island is a nature preserve and May and Ash are looking forward to some intense training.  As Ash and Pikachu train May runs up excited because bulbasuar learned petal dance.  They are interrupted by Max screaming.  He thinks he saw a cradily.  But Cradily have been extinct for a long time.  A breloom jumps out of the bushes and they think it must have been that pokemon that Max saw.  Max runs off to try to prove it to them when he comes across a huge building.  Curious he looks through the windows and sees computers.  He thinks it must be a lab, and inside he sees lileep (the pre-evolution of Cradily).  Then a scientist comes out and tells him he is trespassing on restricted property.

Back in the woods our heroes are startled by the cradily that Max had seen.  I female scientist comes up and hugs the cradily.  Her name is Annie and she wants to know what they are doing in the forest.  She tells them that Max probably ended up at the lab and she takes them there.  Once there she introduces them to the scientist who found Max.  He is Professor Proctor, head of the institute, and he’s also her husband.  It turns out the scientists are cloning the pokemon from fossils.  Professor Proctor tells them the history of pokemon evolution. He cloned anorith and lileep and wants to create a stable environment and then create a pokemon amusement park.

Team Rocket decides to steal the pokemon.  First they think of selling them, but Meowth talks them into giving them to the boss.

Inside the lab an anorith evolves into armaldo.  Team Rocket tries to steal it, but it breaks free and sends them blasting off.  But armaldo is out of control.  It begins destroying the lab and then runs off.  They all run after it and find it eating (and sitting out) fruit.  It refuses to go back to the lab with them so pikachu tries to talk to it.   They send out Butterfree and foretress too, but Armaldo attacks them.  Ash sends corfish to battle armaldo, but it is defeated.  Armaldo burrows into the ground and escapes.  May thinks maybe it is looking for something and Proctor decides it wants the berries it used to eat centuries ago. (he decides this from seeing the partially eaten apples).  The berries only exist at the tip of the island.

When our heroes arrive at the island’s tip they discover they were correct.  But Team Rocket is there and they snatch armaldo in a tank.  Proctor jumps on and promises he will save armaldo.  Team Rocket knocks him off and even Pikachu’s attacks are worthless.  May has bulbasuar use petal dance which is deflected off the tank but hits a mountain which falls and blocks the path.  The tank falls over to reveal a weak bottom.  The professor tells Armaldo to attack it and break it.  Armaldo is free and, together with bulbasuar and Pikachu, sends Team Rocket flying.

With that problem out of the way Armaldo gets to eat his fill of berries.   It settles down and is ready to become part of the professors’ family.  Proctor and Annie are happy and May has decided to use bulbasuar in her next contest.  As always we end with the sunset.

            Location: Wales Island

Notes: Wales island looks like a crescent moon.

Why is Giovanni in a loincloth?

They said anorith ate plants, but then the pokedex says that it used it’s claws to capture prey.

Armaldo is a rock and bug type that uses watergun? What’s up with that?

Love how Meowth says “we’re blasting off again.” Is really getting old.

“If he’s your husband then I assume you’re his wife and that kinda wrecks my plans for the future.” – Brock to Annie.

“I’ve looked all over and there’s no ‘property of the twerps’ tag on it.” – Jesse in response to Ash’s demand that they give armaldo back.

“That doesn’t make it yours!” - May

“Good point.  So until we figure out whose it is we’ll just keep it.” - James
