Who, What, When, Where, Wynaut?

Our heroes are at the ocean and Ash and Pikachu are pumped to train, and the others are sitting to watch ^_^  Just as he is about to begin they see someone walk out onto a nearby outcropping of rocks.  It looks like Drew! He is training his pokemon as well.  Drew says he is preparing for the Grand Festival.  May says they will face off there.  Drew already has five ribbons and is ready for the contest in six weeks.  But May still needs one more, and Drew tells her the Pacifidlog contest is the last contest before the Grand Festival – which means she’ll have to win it.  But for now, the two will engage in a battle for… fun… not that they look like they are enjoying themselves.

It’s beautifly vs. masquerane.  And Ahs is officiating???  Okay then…  Both pokemon have some nice moves, but it doesn’t appear as though it will matter as Team Rocket makes an early appearance and a shortened motto and sucks all the pokemon – and people – into their magic karp sub.  The combined force of their wait is too much and they crash through the cell into the sub.  Max bumps the hyperdrive switch and they all end up on a strange island.  At least everyone got their pokemon back… well, except for Wobuffet who released itself and has disappeared.

Team Rocket is together, and Jesse is quite distraught about the disappearance.  And the boys are all together, but May and Drew are stuck somewhere else – together!  That goes over well with them… not!  At least the two of them runs into someone who knows where they are.  It is an island called Mirage Island.  It is a mysterious place, difficult to reach.  Drew knows of it because it is the best place for leechy berries which are the best kind of berries for pokeblock.  The old man is Roderick and he has a pokemon he wants to introduce them to.  But first he wants to help them find the others.

The others are lost.  The forest is thick and their compass won’t work.  Ash sends out Swellow to look for May, but it finds nothing.  Brock suggests looking for a river and finding it.  Corfish and mudkyp look for one.

May begins her “documentary” journalist thing and Drew mocks her.  She says he doesn’t know how to have fun.  Roderick asks if May knows what her friends will od and she says Brock is good at nature stuff.  Roderick decides that that means he will follow a river so they follow a river to the ocean and wait there.

Team Rocket is looking for wobuffet, but they find a wynuat instead – not that Jesse and James realize that.

Roderick tells May and Drew how he ended up knowing so much about the island.  He was a coordinator looking for leechy berries and he got caught in a storm.  He blacked out and when he awoke he was on the island with a pokemon looking over him.  The pokemon took him to a cave bull of leechy berries.  Just then Drew spots some berries on the side of the cliff wall below them and heads over to look.  May follows and the ground crumbles beneath them.  Roderick sends out a bellsprout who uses vinewhip to try to save them.  But May’s hand slips and they fall into the river.  Roderick tells them they must swim to shore before they fall over the waterfall, but there is no time.  They are swept over the waterfall and Drew is knocked out!  May grabs him, but she doesn’t have the strength to pull them both to shore.  Then she sees a virtual hoard of wynuat keeping pace with them along the river’s edge.  The wynuat form a chain and pull May and Drew ashore.

Ash and the others find the base of the waterfall, but no May and Drew.  They do find Roderick coming down the cliff.  He tells them what happened and they now know to look down stream.

Meanwhile the Wynuat have taken Drew and May to a cave and offer them leechy berries to eat.  The berries are good with a strange after taste and the ability to make them feel stronger.

By nightfall Team Rocket is worn out with searching.  Then Wobuffet appears with an armload of berries.  Team Rocket runs off to find some for themselves.

Ash and co. have heard Roderick’s story and are impressed with his knowledge and his devotion to the wynuat who once saved him.  They find footprints that lead toward the wynuat’s cave.

The wynuat are having a dancing party and they invite May and Drew to join them!  May and her pokemon join in the fun, but Drew is too serious for things like that.  But the party doesn’t last long.  You see, Team Rocket found out that the island has leechy berries – and that those berries are worth money – so they decide to take them all and sell them.  They suck up all the wynuats’ berries.  When May and Drew run out to stop them, May gets sucked up too!  As Team Rocket flies away May shouts to Drew that he has to do something, but he can’t exactly run out over the cliff edge.  The wynuat have a solution though – they form a chain and Drew slides down it.  By the time he reaches May Team Rocket has left her tied from a tree branch.  But they are nearby.  Saviper and Roselia have a showdown with the wynaut helping out.

Ash and co. have found the empty wynaut cave and Roderick realizes that the berries are missing.  Ahs knows it must be Team Rocket and they take off in pursuit.

Meanwhile, Drew has found time in the battle to release May and give Team Rocket a pretty good beating.  Ash and the others run up and Pikachu joins the battle.  Fortunately the wynaut are still protecting them all.  And Team Rocket is soon blasting off again thanks to a double silverwind from Beautifly and Masquerane

Later, as Roderick takes them back to the mainland in his motor boat he shows them a picture of himself when he was younger.  He was pretty mean back then, but the wynaut taught him to be kind.  May says they’ve taught her that too.  And Drew says they’ll see.  Roderick gives May some berries and with those to help her she’s all fired for her next competition.

            Location: Mirage Island

Notes: Don’t you love how the waves crest and splash so nicely to compliment Ash’s yell?

Drew!!!  I love that arrogant little brat ^_^  He’s my favorite Hoenn character.

Well, that explains why Drew wasn’t in any of the other contests May entered- she’d never have gotten any ribbons.  It’s harder to get in the Grand Championship then the Pokemon League…

So much repressed attraction between May and Drew ^_^

If they are already at the ocean how can the river head further out into the island again?  Rivers flow toward the ocean…

How did the vacuum suck up May but not the wynuat?

Does Team Rocket carry hot air balloons in their pockets or what?

“Rising sun so shining bright, are there movies on this flight?” – Team Rocket as they blast off away from the sunrise.
