The Incredible Fir-Rat Hoari

Have you ever wondered about Inuyasha's red outfit?  How it seemed so indestructible at the beginning - breaking arrows and swords - and not so much later?  Talk about a television "convenience factor".  It seems to be one of those items that is wonderfully indestructible when they don't want Inuyasha to be hurt, and just about normal when it works to let him get hurt... frustrating I tell you.  They could at least try to provide a plausible explanation for why its strength seems to vary.  But the real thing that bothers me is how it seems to repair itself.  Have you noticed that?  In an episode Inuyasha will get a hole ripped through his stomach (and consequently his clothing) and then by the end of the episode both Inuyasha and the garment are fine.  I see two possible explanations for this.  One: the fire rat tunic is self repairing (it slices, it dices, it grows back on its own!), or  two: despite the series' initial inference that fire rats are rare and the tunic is one of a kind, there are actually an abundance of fire rats and Inuyasha is the best tailor there ever was.

Can you picture him with a needle and thread?  Good thing that tunic is already red ^_^

Anyway, I hope you see my point, and now that I've shared my insane consistency pet peeves with the rest of the world I can take satisfaction in the fact that some of you are now driven as completely insane as I am by these consistency errors.
