Kaede is the younger sister of Kikyo.  She is old and wise.  While she is a miko and knows much about healing, and even a little archery, her spiritual power does not appear to be very strong.  She can cast spells however, such as the one on Inuyasha's rosary that makes him fall down whenever Kagome says "sit".  Kaede doesn't back down from a fight, and she isn't afraid of Inuyasha.  But she is gentle and offers advice and help whenever she can.
