Aoshi Shinomori
Aoshi became the leader of the Oniwaban group at the age of fifteen. He’s
now 26 and gorgeous! The title of the episode introducing him is “Aoshi: A
Man so Beautiful It’s Frightening” – and boy is he! He
is an extremely talented and skilled fighter, one of the best, an amazing spy,
and an excellent leader.
Aoshi is serious and doesn’t talk too much, but he’s a kind person,
dedicated to his people.
He’s also very knowledgeable with a strong sense of right and wrong,
and a desire to protect. He has a deep sense of responsibility. However, for
much of the series he seems to be evil.
The truth is, he is lost, searching.
After the death of his four men he decides that only being strong
matters and he throws away all his character and reason to become the
strongest. Of
course, Kenshin eventually turns him back to the truth and he becomes a strong
ally and they imply that he will become a friend.
After this he returns to his old self, but he is much more reclusive,
searching his soul for peace, and trying to forgive himself.
