Kenshin Himura
Once the legendary Battousai the man slayer, Kenshin is now a wondering
swordsman.
Kenshin was an orphan raised and trained by the master of the Hiten
Mitsurugi sword style for the age of eight.
At thirteen he joined the revolution on the side of the Imperialists,
dreaming of a new government of equality and freedom.
From 14 to 18 he was the Imperialists most powerful weapon.
He could kill dozens of men at a time, he was invincible.
And then, one day he disappeared. 10 years later Kenshin reappears, a
wandering swordsman with a reverse blade sword and a vow never to kill again.
For ten years he has wandered
Japan, protecting the weak and never killing. Throughout the first
season Kenshin struggles against the manslayer within him, the one that says
sometimes one must kill to protect more worthy people, but by the middle of
the second season Kenshin has defeated that part of him forever.
He can fight at his best without losing his control.
As a person Kenshin is generally very wise.
He is kind and can read people well.
He protects others, does chores.
He cooks fairly well.
He always looks for something redeemable in others.
He tries to talk to them, correcting their thinking gently, with his
words, even while he protects himself from their physical assaults. Everyone
he faces either dies (not by his hand though) or turns their life around
(which is much more often the case).
Kenshin loves to smile and laugh, but he can be all seriousness when
anyone is in danger.
He is protecting others to make up for his past sins, and also because
he truly cares for others. Sometimes he is a little dense, but who isn’t? He
loves Kaoru, but he isn’t very good with women (even though they all love
him.) He’s very good with children though because he plays with them and
talks with them.
He tries to let others do things on their own, so even though he’s
always there he only acts when he feels it is necessary.
