Hajime Saito
Saito is an interesting character.
He lives by his own strict code of justice “Slay evil immediately”.
It is the motto he learned in the Shinsengumi, an elite group of
swordsmen fighting against the Imperialists in the revolution. Now he is a
policeman working to protect the new era he once fought against.
He is a powerful and skilled swordsman.
He is cold, calculating, and insulting. He and Sano don’t get along,
but they really do respect one another.
Saito doesn’t change his views concerning killing, but he and Kenshin
do seem to reach an understanding.
Surprisingly, Saito actually has a wife! I think that’s funny (so do
Kenshin and Misao)
