Sanosuke Sagara
Sanosuke, or Sano as they call him, was the first enemy Kenshin turned in to
a friend. Sanosuke
is pretty young (somewhere between eighteen and the early twenties).
He was a fighter for hire who hated all Imperialists because they used
and then betrayed the group he fought with in the revolution.
But Kenshin shows him that he cannot blame everyone for the cruelty of
a few. Sano
still doesn’t like the Meiji government, but at least he’s not a fighter
for hire anymore.
Now he fights with Kenshin, protecting the innocent and getting free
meals from Kaoru.
He still has some rough edges. He has a loud mouth, likes to argue,
still enjoys a good fist fight, and doesn’t pay his bills.
But he’s dependable.
