Okina is the leader of the Kyoto branch of the Oniwaban. He could have been the leader of the entire group when the previous leader died, but he chose to support Aoshi instead. He can be silly and he’s a bit too interested in women, especially young ones, but he has a strong sense of right and wrong. He is still a skilled fighter. He raised Misao after Aoshi left her behind. He is a good judge of character and is quick to befriend Kenshin. He does not tolerate evil, or betrayal. He is a wise and capable leader. But he’s still silly and self absorbed!
